Žijeme v odpade! Pri pohľade na tieto fotografie mrazí. Kedy sa už konečne poučíme?

Hoci sa z každej strany na nás valia dôsledky masívneho znečisťovania prírody, ktoré majú na svedomí predovšetkým ľudia a odnesie si to nielen príroda, ale spolu s ňou aj zvieratá, nie všetci máme do dnešného dňa enviromentálne zmýšľanie.

V súvislosti so znečisťovaním sme písali aj o malej obci Lomnička, ktorá sa musí vysporiadať s odpadom, inak jej hrozia opakované pokuty. Doposiaľ sa vyšplhali do výšky 3000 eur.

Stačí si ísť kúpiť čokoľvek do obchodu a príkladov na nešetrné používanie mikroténových vrecúšok môžeme vidieť hneď niekoľko. Stretneme sa s ním počas nákupu a aby toho nebolo málo aj pri pokladni. Je zarážajúce, že pri dvoch veciach si niektorí namiesto plátenej tašky, ktorú je možné vďaka jej praktickosti nosiť stále so sebou, nezabudnú vypýtať igelitku. Tá sa vo voľnej prírode, prípadne v oceáne, kde napokon často skončí, len tak ľahko nerozloží. Vedci sa domnievajú, že sa tak stane za 10 až 20 rokov. Pri PET fľašiach je situácia ešte horšia, tie sa rozložia za približne 450 rokov, píšu zpravy.aktualne.cz.

Čísla neklamú

Občas sa nám zdá, že môžeme napísať rovnako veľa článkov, ako je odpadu v oceánoch, a zmena neprichádza alebo prichádza len veľmi pomaly. Vedeli ste, že v ázijských supermarketoch predávajú ovocie a zeleninu zabalenú v listoch? Písali sme o tom len nedávno. 

Podľa stránky zpravy.aktualne.cz vo svetových oceánoch pláva viac než 268 000 ton plastov. Takéto množstvo by mohlo 425-krát omotať zemeguľu pozdĺž rovníka. A najhoršie na tom je, že takéhoto ťažko sa rozložiteľného odpadu každým dňom pribúda.

„V súčasnej dobe sa ročne vyrobí približne 300 miliónov ton plastov. Ten je natoľko rozšírený, že recyklačné systémy nestíhajú. Podľa OSN bude do roku 2015 plávať v oceánoch viac plastov ako rýb.” Informácie sú z roku 2018 a nachádzajú sa na stránke zpravy.aktualne.cz.

Raz vidieť, ako stokrát počuť

Prečítať si to je jedna vec a vidieť to zas druhá. Pozrite si obrázky, ktoré hovoria o tom, ako to v skutočnosti je. Žiadny z obrázkov nie je natoľko pekný, aby ste sa naň dívali dlhšie ako sekundu. Veď čo je pekné na labuti, ktorá sa s plastmi jednoducho naučila žiť a namiesto toho, aby jej okolie pomohlo, urobili z nej obľúbenú turistickú atrakciu? Na pandu, ktorá kvôli odlesňovaniu prišla o svoj domov? Alebo na korytnačku, ktorá sa zasekla v odpade, čomu sa časom prispôsobil aj tvar jej panciera?

Tieto silné fotografie priniesol svojim čitateľom spolu s výzvou „poďme spolu bojovať proti používaniu plastov a zabrániť znečisťovaniu planéty” portál brightside.me. Pozrite si ich a sami zhodnoťte, či ten sáčok na jablko alebo iné ovocie či zeleninu, ktoré ho koniec-koncov vôbec nepotrebujú, za to stojí.

My last visit to the Red Sea gave me this sad situation that I knew happened but I had never witnessed myself. At the end of a dive on a reef called Big Gota, we came across 2 hawksbill turtles, a male and female feeding on jellyfish. I got close to the female and took a few photos of her eating. Then I realised she had a plastic bag in her mouth and in fact wasn’t able to eat, she was just nudging the jellyfish clearly in some distress. I had to try and help so I put away my camera and tried to pull the bag from its mouth. The plastic bag was not only in her mouth but also down her throat. I had to hold onto its shell and try to wrestle from her. The turtle was surprisingly calm and let me manhandle her a little and once she opened her mouth the bag came out. There was about 8 inches down her throat and wouldn’t have been able to eat. Almost as soon as I pulled the bag out she tried to eat yet another bag that floated by, I quickly pulled that bag away and she went on to eat a few of the many jellyfish around us, she was clearly very hungry. I took a few photos and as our dive time was up we decided to ascend. Both turtles followed us up and seemed to play with us on the surface, with them at times climbing all over our cameras as we tried to photograph them. I'm not sure they were 'saying' thank you but it was a great interaction to sad introduction to these two incredible marine reptiles. I'm sure these turtles will just go on to eat the next plastic bag that floats by but I hope I helped a little. Strangely we encountered more turtles on this trip that I had ever seen before but they will soon die out unless we do something, NOW! I want our children to see with their own eyes what I've come to love on the oceans. I often talk about plastic waste in the ocean but have never seen it's effect so close up. For the love of what ever you hold dear act on this, don't leave it for someone else. Please think about this the next time someone offers you a plastic bag or disposable item, do you really need it, maybe you could just pop that item in your pocket and keep a reusable bag with you. #redsea #turtle #plastic #plasticpollution #plasticoceans #pollution

It’s a photo that I wish didn’t exist but now that it does I want everyone to see it. What started as an opportunity to photograph a cute little sea horse turned into one of frustration and sadness as the incoming tide brought with it countless pieces of trash and sewage. This sea horse drifts long with the trash day in and day out as it rides the currents that flow along the Indonesian archipelago. This photo serves as an allegory for the current and future state of our oceans. What sort of future are we creating? How can your actions shape our planet?
